Sometimes a yawn is just a yawn, but #owls also yawn to try to regurgitate "pellets," indigestible material (feathers, teeth, skulls, etc...) that their gizzards have compacted. This is video of a barred #owl, and there are some close-up shots of its talons and its third eyelid, called a nictitating membrane, that moves diagonally across its eye. This owl was recorded in Memphis, Tennessee on the V&E Greenline. #barredowl #wildlife #animals #cute #funny #birds Music: "Big Slinker" by Birocratic, from YouTube's audio library. www.TDtangents.com
