@vigneswaranapplasamy71493 years ago Another excellent video Alex. However, I differ a little in terms of strategy whereby I buy when the VIX is above 30 and the Greed and Fear Index is below 30-35. You maybe right that the stock may go down further, but as you have pointed out before, it doesn't matter if the high conviction stocks are bought at valuations that I'm happy and there's a significant drawdown thereafter. I'm in for the long haul.
I hold 30%-40% of cash like position stocks when the VIX is drops below 15 and the Greed and Fear index scales above 75. I hardly hold cash positions.

@markrobertdevison12273 years ago I'm not a fan of being 50% cash because it means I sold half of my stocks and the kind of gains I have would generate a lot of taxes owed. I'm 99% in. Once I get more cash in my account, I look to invest it soon after the next sell off. I'm almost always in stocks and never have cash for very long. ... 21

@golfvolloeko3 years ago The issue is that ARK might be fully on track with expected growth on sectors but not on the companies... look at the 2000s which companies were big on b2b, online shops,... and which ones made the big cash in the end... can be quite different ... 2

  • @
@Sen-ys2qo3 years ago @5min Interesting you go to cash/cash-like stocks as volatility & fear increases and switch to high conviction stocks when greed increases - I tend to buy my high conviction stocks into volatility on the downside as when the market is in greed, usually the prices are higher ...

@tradingup3 years ago Alex, thank you for the videos. I would be interested in your thoughts on this idea. What do you think of using a promising SPAC as a cash like position? If you take IPOD and IPOF as an example, neither suffered badly in the recent crash but both have the potential of suddenly running based on news of a deal. Thank you. ...

@danfronzeil73323 years ago Thanks Alex. Great content, food for thought to hone my investing skills. I don't trust Cathie Wood and I find over half of her stocks to not align with my own investment thesis, but it's a great way to learn about new and upcoming technology for sure, so that I can then do my own research in that space! ... 1

@eric2024203 years ago so if you currently have 50% in cash, can you please elaborate on when and what you sold in order to increase cash holdings. I own many growth and tech companies that you do, but so far I have just been not touching anything and letting it all sit. It would be great to hear details about when and how much of your growth stocks you have sold to put into cash or cash like stocks. ...

@thenewkhan47813 years ago I'm panic buying... some of the stocks I love are in the correction zone of -20-30%. How could I not buy them now? I also opened positions in a few of highly promising companies that are at huge discounts of over -50%. I feel euphoric but also saving some cash to buy more at even lower prices in the next few days because it's possible the stock market will bleed even more until Christmas/end of the year. ...

@lilbroomstick79143 years ago Alex I hope your portfolio beats VOO, QQQ, and ARKK over a long period of time. I think it will too actually. Keep at it. Maybe if PLTR valuation comes down it will be attractive
  • @
@LuisDiaz-qg3eg3 years ago Cash could be an ultra-short-term or money market ETF, the likes of BIL/SHY/SHV/SPTS/SCHO/SGOV/ICSH/VGSH/VUSB. To get even <1% with very low risk, none of these fell on 2020, the older ones didn't fall in 2008.

@tipoomaster3 years ago Cathie's trades are looking zany sometimes. ARK has done well for me but I'm wondering if the overperformance is over after the freak year of 2020 and this is a return to mean. Like she doubled down on Zillow after the announcement tanked it, then dumped it even lower the very next day. ... 2

@erikbrown773 years ago QUESTION: Although the market has been climbing up so far this week, I notice the volume has been below average - particularly in the Nasdaq and S&P 500. Today's volume for both of those indeces was well below average. I am guessing the recent market action is mostly retail investors buying the dip, but the big institutional investors not so much. I'm taking this as a sign the rally is weak. Do you agree?? ... 1

@guycharles80613 years ago I have been purchasing ARKK and ARKG incrementally on the way down. Love the volatility and the opportunities that come with it. 1
  • @
@NiceGuyEddy003 years ago I feel like MSFT, AAPL, GOOG, etc. are more than "cash-like positions." There are SO MANY other companies that hold their value well (or grow) and pay a substantial dividend. These companies are less volatile: VOO, SHCD, QYLD, RYLD, RA, ARCC, ABR, etc, etc. These to me are more cash like (and much better than holding cash) than MSFT and AAPL. MSFT and AAPL are amazing companies, don't get me wrong. But they aren't "cash like" compared to MANY others in my humble opinion. ...

@JS-bk4pn3 years ago I think you should be all in invested into stocks. If you aren’t It’s unfair to compare your portfolio to ARKK. ARKK has virtually no cash in their ETF. ARKK has to move around stocks to buy the dip, you can literally just buy the stocks that are on sale. If you truly want to compare your portfolio to ARKK at least have your cash to buy the dip in cash like positions. ... 1
